Saturday’s announcement was expected by many after the cases reported in Shepparton and Bendigo, however some were taken by surprise with the short notice given. Restrictions were announced in the Press Conference at 11.45am, with restictions in regional Vic taking hold at 1:00pm that day.
These restrictions are required to stop the spread of the Delta variant of Covid-19, and reduce movement and the chance for more community transmission. This will hopefully allow the health teams to get on top of the cases already confirmed, and ensure those infected are isolating.
The only acception to the current Melbourne Metro restrictions is that there is no curfew for residents in Regional Victoria.
However, there is now only five (5) reasons to leave your home across the whole of Victoria:
-
To get food and supplies needed
-
To exercise for up to two (2) hours, no more than 5km from your home
-
To provide care or caregiving
-
Authorised work or education
-
To get vacinated at the nearest possible location
These restriction will remain in place until 11.59pm Thursday 2nd September.
What this means for Motorcycling Victoria events across the state in plain terms: No events are permitted at all!
There is now a new Table of Restrictions and it can be downloaded HERE
