As most of you know, the road race circuit resurface project has led to issues and has dragged on longer than expected. We understand the concerns of our customers and members, and are as disappointed as you that we have had to cancel events and disappoint the road racing community. It was not in the plan!
During the resurfacing a number defects became apparent, and we are working with the contractor (and others) to ensure the issues can be addressed as soon as possible. Some of these defects have been identified as caused by an unstable base, we have been working with a civil contractor to remedy this situation. These are not unlike issues faced by other tracks in the past while undertaking similar projects, and are being managed accordingly.
It is not ideal, but it is not the disaster you may have been led to believe in the world of social media. Because of the nature of the work and contract and confidentiality arrangements, we have not been in a position to share all of the details, or keep you all in the loop. We hope people understand our position, and we will continue to inform you where we can.
On Sunday night, one of the contractor’s trucks, trailer and excavator were stolen from the complex, along with the MV Junior bikes, a Champion’s Ride Day Kawasaki 600 Ninja and a large number of leathers, boots and helmets used to get new riders safely on the track. This has been reported to police and MV, Champions and the contractor are all insured but we are gutted that we have been the target of a robbery.
Today we have another civil road contractor on site completing the remedial works, this should be completed within the next couple of days. We have been able to continue track work with minimal time lost.
Thank you to you all for your understanding, patience and support during this time. We have had many of you stick your hand up to offer assistance in key areas, and we are very grateful for that support. We are working on negotiations for track work and when finalized, we will be able to provide you with some solid information. We are doing our very best to ensure this happens in the next few days.
In the meantime, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us with any questions or concerns.
Best regards,
Robert Mestrom
