In order to participate in any Motorcycling Victoria (MV) or Motorcycling Australia (MA) permitted event you will be required to be the holder of a current national licence.
The type of licence you require is dependant on the type of event you wish to participate in.
Below you will find a complete list of all current competition and non-competition licenses available to you. They are:

If you are a senior (16 or above) and you are getting your licence for the first time, or it has been longer than 12 months since you last renewed your licence, you are required to complete the First Time Licence Test.
The First Time Licence Test is a 25 question, multiple-choice theory test.
The test is contained in the Getting Started in Motorcycle Sport booklet. Click here to download the booklet and test. Alternatively, you can contact MV and we will post you a booklet in the mail.
Each person who completes the Test is required to pay a one-off fee of $15.00.

A Senior National Licence entitles you to compete in any competition permitted by Motorcycling Australia or Motorcycling Victoria. A Senior is classified as a person who is over the age of sixteen (16).

Valid For: One year (from date of issue)

A Junior National Licence entitles you to compete in any competition permitted by Motorcycling Australia or Motorcycling Victoria. A junior is classified as a person who is over the age of seven (7) and under the age of sixteen (16).
If you are obtaining this licence for the first time you will need to complete the KickStart Program. Click here for more information.
Cost: $250
Valid For: One year (from date of issue)

A Senior Club Licence entitles you to compete in any closed-to-club or interclub event conducted by your club and permitted by Motorcycling Australia or Motorcycling Victoria. A Senior is classified as a person who is over the age of sixteen (16).

Valid For: One year (from date of issue)

A Junior Club Licence entitles you to compete in any closed-to-club or interclub event conducted by your club and permitted by Motorcycling Australia or Motorcycling Victoria. A junior is classified as a person who is over the age of seven (7) and under the age of sixteen (16).

A Senior Restricted Licence entitles you to compete in any Moto Trials, Mini Moto and Fast 50s event permitted by Motorcycling Australia or Motorcycling Victoria. A Senior is classified as a person who is over the age of sixteen (16).

Valid For: One year (from date of issue)

A Junior Restricted Licence entitles you to compete in any Moto Trials, Mini Moto and Fast 50s event permitted by Motorcycling Australia or Motorcycling Victoria. A junior is classified as a person who is over the age of seven (7) and under the age of sixteen (16).

A Senior One Event National Licence entitles you to compete in an open Classic Motocross or Historic Road Race event permitted by Motorcycling Australia. A Senior is classified as a person who is over the age of sixteen (16).

Valid For: One Event
Please note: This is valid ONLY for national events.

A Recreation Licence entitles you to compete in any recreational (i.e. club ride day, practice day etc) event permitted by Motorcycling Australia or Motorcycling Victoria. A Recreation Licence is valid for those aged 16 or over.
This licence is not valid for any competitive acticities.

Valid For: One year (from date of issue)

A Mini Licence entitles you to compete in the 50cc Demo Class (formerly Div 1), Minikhana events and any non-competitive event permitted by Motorcycling Australia or Motorcycling Victoria. A Mini Licence is only for those aged between 4 and Under 16.
This licence is not valid for any competitive acticities.
Cost: $85.50
Valid For: One year (from date of issue)

An Entrants Licence allows a company to act on behalf of their rider at a race meeting (i.e. lodge protests).
The Entrants Licence also entitles the company's name to be placed in the Race Program next to the name of their rider.
