Licensing

To participate in any official Motorcycling Victoria (MV) or Motorcycling Australia (MA) event you need to be the holder of a current National Licence.

The Motorcycle Sport Licence Application Form is applicable to these licences and enables an individual to participate in motorcycle sport events:

Senior National & Junior National Licence
Senior Restricted & Junior Restricted Licence
Senior One Event Licence
Recreation Licence
Entrants Licence
Mini Licence
Speedway Licence

NB: Licence fees are set and reviewed by Motorcycling Australia at the start of each year and are subjected to change.

Please write your email address on the application form if you wish to receive an electronic receipt and temporary licence.

PLEASE ENSURE all Licence Applications are received at least 2 WEEKS prior to being required.

LATE applications may incur a late processing fee of $55.00.

PLEASE NOTE: FROM December 1, 2016 for Motorcycling Victoria to manually process a licence via cheque/money order or cash will cost $10.00.

This fee is charged by the transactions processor who administer Ridernet not Motorcycling Victoria.

The Licence Application Form will be updated to reflect the change from December 1.

FIRST TIME LICENCE TEST

If you are a senior (16 or above) and you are getting your competitive licence for the first time, or it has been longer than 12 months since you last renewed your licence, you are required to complete the First Time Licence Test.

The First Time Licence Test is a 25 question, multiple-choice theory test: FIRST TIME LICENCE TEST.

The test is contained in the Getting Started in Motorcycle Sport booklet. Alternatively, you can contact MV and we will send you a booklet in the post.


SENIOR NATIONAL LICENCE

A Senior National Licence entitles you to compete in any competition permitted by Motorcycling Australia or Motorcycling Victoria. A Senior is classified as a person who is over the age of 16.

If you are obtaining this licence for the first time you will need to complete the First Time Licence Test (as above).

Cost: $320
Valid for: One year (from date of issue)


JUNIOR NATIONAL LICENCE

A Junior National Licence entitles you to compete in any competition permitted by Motorcycling Australia or Motorcycling Victoria. A junior is classified as a person who is over the age of 7 and under the age of 16.

If you are obtaining this licence for the first time you will need to complete the Kick Start Program.

Cost: $295
Valid for: One year (from date of issue)


SENIOR RESTRICTED LICENCE

A Senior Restricted Licence entitles you to compete in any Moto-Trials, Mini Moto and Fast 50s event permitted by Motorcycling Australia or Motorcycling Victoria. A Senior is classified as a person who is over the age of 16.

If you are obtaining this licence for the first time you will need to complete the First Time Licence Test.

Cost: $235
Valid for: One year (from date of issue)


JUNIOR RESTRICTED LICENCE

A Junior Restricted Licence entitles you to compete in any Moto-Trials, Mini Moto and Fast 50s event permitted by Motorcycling Australia or Motorcycling Victoria. A junior is classified as a person who is over the age of 7 and under the age of 16.

If you are obtaining this licence for the first time you will need to complete the Kick Start Program.

Cost: $140
Valid for: One year (from date of issue)


SENIOR ONE EVENT NATIONAL LICENCE

A Senior One Event National Licence entitles you to compete in an open Classic Motocross or Historic Road Race event permitted by Motorcycling Australia. A Senior is classified as a person who is over the age of 16.

If you are obtaining this licence for the first time you will need to complete the First Time Licence Test.

Cost: $75.00
Valid for: One event

Please note: This is valid ONLY for national events.


RECREATIONAL LICENCE

A Recreation Licence entitles you to compete in any recreational (i.e. club ride day, practice day etc) event permitted by Motorcycling Australia or Motorcycling Victoria. A Recreation Licence is valid for those aged 16 or over.

This licence is not valid for any competitive activities.

Valid for: One year (from date of issue)


MINI LICENCE

A Mini Licence entitles you to compete in the 50cc Demo Class (formerly Div 1), Minikhana events and any non-competitive event permitted by Motorcycling Australia or Motorcycling Victoria. A Mini Licence is only allowed  for those aged between 4 and 16.

This licence is not valid for any competitive activities.

Valid for: One year (from date of issue)


ENTRANTS LICENCE

An Entrants Licence allows a company to act on behalf of their rider at a race meeting (i.e. lodge protests).

The Entrants Licence also entitles the company’s name to be placed in the Race Program next to the name of their rider.
