Kaitlyn’s perfect season continues

Kaitlyn Wakartschuk is in the midst of a perfect season in the Ladies Clubman class at the 2015 VSMXC.

HAMPTON Park’s Kaitlyn Wakartschuk is in the midst of a perfect season having won every race in the Ladies Clubman class at Victoria’s premier motocross event – the 2015 Victorian Senior Motocross Championships – which takes place at Albury-Wodonga this weekend, July 25-26.

Kaitlyn, 19, has only been competitively racing for four years after joining the Nunawading Motorcycle Club. “Me and my little brother started racing there where we began competing in the Gippsland Motocross Championships and we’ve loved the sport ever since,” Kaitlyn recalls.

She is currently 28-points in front of Belmont’s Madison Bird and 44-points ahead of Bacchus Marsh’s Emily Oakley with two rounds remaining. The final round will take place at Ballarat’s Monza Park on the weekend of August 15-16.

“I haven’t ever won a title in the Victorian Senior Motocross Championships and I’m currently leading so hopefully I can bring it home this year,” Kaitlyn said.

Kaitlyn feels she has improved in her racing a lot this season. “Having a few years to get used to the senior competition has definitely helped me improve my riding. I’m now more confident in my riding that has enabled me to get out in front of the other girls,” she said.

She picks the second round of the VSMXC at Maffra-Sale in June as her best round so far this season. “The people there prepped the track really well. I had a lot of success there which is good,” Kaitlyn, who is also currently competing in the 2015 Yamaha Australian Women’s Motocross Championships, added.

Kaitlyn has never raced at Albury-Wodonga before but isn’t shying away from that fact. “It’s a new track so it’ll be interesting to see how I go there,” she continued.

If all goes well this season, she would like to try her luck at competing in the Ladies Expert class. “If I was given the opportunity, yes I would go up to Expert and try and keep up with those girls. It would be a good challenge,” Kaitlyn added.

Kaitlyn would like to thank her Mum and Dad, Freestyle Honda Motorcycles, BLS Suspension, Supa Trik Differentials for all their amazing help this season. “A big thank-you goes to Dad for being my mechanic and my brother and sister for their continued support,” Kaitlyn thanked.

The 2015 Victorian Senior Motocross Championships takes place at the Albury-Wodonga Motorcycle Club along the Lincoln Causeway in Wodonga. Racing starts at 9am on both days, July 25-26.

The final day of the final round of the 2015 VSMXC will also be covered live online at www.mysportlive.com.au.
