ASBK racer, Wayne Maxwell, will headline Broadford's Girls Only Track Day this Friday, July 13.

AUSTRALIAN Superbike racer, Wayne Maxwell, will headline Broadford’s Girls Only Track Day this Friday, July 13 at the State Motorcycle Sports Complex.

The Girls Only Ride Day is the perfect opportunity to encourage women of all ages and abilities to give road racing a try as part of Motorcycling Victoria’s Female Participation Program.

The day has been specifically created for those who haven’t even been out on a track before, and is ideal for mums, daughters, and partners to bring out their motorcycles and finally give it a go.

Australian Superbike racer Wayne Maxwell will be there to help out on the day. “My sisters and I grew up around motorbikes.

“It’s great to have their interest in it. There is a big following for females in motorcycling sport throughout Australia,” Wayne said.

Wayne will be giving advice and tuition on the best practices in riding a road bike and safety.

“The day will be a good opportunity help create more awareness of motorcycle racing. It will also be a good opportunity for them to ask any questions that they may have, and for them to get good advice on the day so that they can enjoy the sport safely,” Wayne added.

For those who don’t have a bike, but would still like a ride on the wild side members of the HMRAV and the SCRCV will on hand with sidecars for those who would like to have a go at swinging. The entry fee for the Girls Only Ride Day is being offered at a discounted price of $40.

“We are hoping to continue to grow and develop the day to be a permanent fixture for the future of women and motorcycling in Victoria,” Peta Thomas, manager of the Female Participation Program, said.

“The girls are definitely getting faster, and their skills are right up there as well. They can compete with a lot of the boys, in a lot of the levels. It’s good to see,” Wayne added.

Credit Card and EFT facilities will not be available on the day so please bring cash, cheque or money order if you are intending to pay on the day.

For those who will be out on their bike and want to have a go swinging there is no additional price to the entry fee.

Full leathers (either a one piece or 2 piece suit) that zip together are a must.
