Cudlin returns to the Moto2 World Championship for the next two rounds with Desguaces La Torre SAG Team

Damian Cudlin has received the call up to ride for the Desguaces La Torre SAG Team for the next two rounds of the 2012 Moto2 World Championship.

The Taree rider will stand in for Angel Rodriguez - who parted ways with the team after the British Grand Prix earlier this month after failling short on targets - and climb aboard the Bimota HB4 at Assen this weekend and Sachsenring on 8 July.

Cudlin originally held a Moto2 seat at the beginning of this year with the QMMF team, but was replaced by fellow Australian Ant West moments before the season got underway.

After parting ways with QMMF, Cudlin joined forces with the BMW Motorrad France Team to contest the 2012 FIM Endurance World Championship. The move has written itself to be a success story, with Cudlin and his teammates Erwan Nigon, Hugo Marchland and Sachar Rodensbusch celebrating victory at the recent 8 Hours of Doha.

This weekend's Moto2 outing will be a return to the familiar for Cudlin, who has had his wheels on the World Championship grid before. The Australian took seventh in Moto2 at the 2010 German Grand Prix as a stand-in for the injured Axel Pons, and made two MotoGP appearances last year, riding for Loris Capirossi at Motegi and for Hector Barbara at Phillip Island.

Cudlin is aiming to make the most of his opportunity with the Spanish Desguaces La Toree SAG Team.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for me, I will try to make the most from it. I've competed with the best in the world in the past and I performed very well, and now I think that I can do it again," Cudlin commented.

"Assen is a legendary circuit and I've raced here in 2010, I have some fond memories from the Cathederal because I won here in Supersport. I hope to have a good race and I'm eager to get back on a Moto2 again."

The seventh round of the 2012 Motorcycle Grand Prix World Championship takes place this weekend 28-30 June at Assen.
