Nine racers take home eleven Australian Junior Dirt Track Titles
November 17, 2009

Nine excited young racers became Australian Champions this weekend at the Anthony Costello Automotive sponsored 2009 Australian Junior Dirt Track Championships at the ACT Motor Cycle Club’s new Fairbairn Park Dirt Track Stadium.

Two riders, Joshua MacDonald from the Kurri Kurri, NSW Club, and Robbie Menzies-Sargent from the Mike Hatcher Club on Queensland’s Gold Coast, took home two titles each.

The President of the ACT MCC, Allan McNeice said “The competition at Australian Junior Titles get’s tougher every year, and as predicted, last years Champions had to fight hard to win another one, but the new Champions managed to get a firm grip on first place and hung on for a  trophy in their own cabinet.”

The parents in the pits included 3 well known motorcycling identities who swapped their helmets for spanners to prepare their kids race bikes:
• Wayne Gardner 1987 500cc Grand Prix World Champion, for sons Remy and Luca
• Paul Feeney former Australian Superbike racer and Australian Distributor of Husqvarna and MV Agusta motorcycles, for sons Lachy and Broc, and
• Brett Whale, Chad Reed’s Kawasaki Racing Team Manager, for son Max

Their mum’s were the umbrella girls.
