Phillips stars in breakout 2011 campaign
December 14, 2011

Matt Phillips enjoyed a brilliant 2011, capped off by an amazing showing at the ISDE in Finland.

2011 has been an amazing year for Australian Enduro Racing with Champions crowned and the next generation of Aussie stars emerging on the world stage.

Over the coming days MA will put forward some of the top Enduro performers of 2011 and you tell us what you think.

He made his name as a promising young Motocross rider but 2011 saw Matt Phillips emerge as one of the brightest prospects in Australian Enduro racing on the back of dominant performances both here and on the international stage.

A recent convert to Enduro competition, the form displayed by the talented Tasmanian in the Australian Off Road Championship (AORC) earned him a call-up to the Australian for the 2011 International Six Day Enduro (ISDE).

Expected to be in the shadows of star teammates such as Toby Price, Phillips announced himself on the world stage finishing on the podium after four of the six days to finish fifth in the highly-competitive E2 class and take home a gold medal at his first international event.

Returning to familiar shores to finish the AORC, Phillips ended the campaign in third overall, claiming his first AORC final podium.

While 2011 brought significant success for the rising star, 2012 shapes as another big year in the blossoming career of Matt Phillips.
