Cody Dyce revving-up for national titles

VICTORIAN Cody Dyce is revving up for the Australian Junior MX C’ships at Bunbury from Sept. 26 – Oct. 3.

TINAMBA’s motocross champion Cody Dyce is revving up for this year’s KTM Australian Junior Motocross Championships at Bunbury, Western Australia beginning this Saturday, September 26.

Cody, who turned 15 on Monday, won the 250cc A Grade and 125cc A Grade titles at the 2015 Victorian Junior Motocross Championships.

He aims to successfully defend his 125cc two-stroke 13 to 15-year-old title which he won in Appin, New South Wales last year. He also competed in the 250cc four-stroke 13 to 15-year-old class where he finished third.

“It would be a great achievement to come first again. I’m definitely hoping to improve from last year by taking out both titles,” Cody said.

“I’ve never competed in Perth in my entire motocross career so it should be pretty exciting,” Cody, who’ll be facing a week of intense competition, added.

He’s also unfazed by the sandy track at the Bunbury Motorcycle Club. “I’m alright in the sand. I’ll give it my best and I’ll see how I go,” he said.

Cody is also thrilled at the chance of riding with his brother, Kallam Dyce, 9, on Team Victoria at the AJMXC. “My little brother Kallam also got picked to represent Victoria. He’s pretty pumped about it,” Cody added.

Each state in Australia selects their best riders of each class. At the end of the week they add the most points from their best selected rider and the state that has the most overall points wins.

“It’s a great team concept in the middle of an individual competition. It’ll be lots of fun,” Cody added.

Cody would like to thank his coach Cameron Taylor, Stephen Powell from SPMX, Scott Bishop, Nick Sinclair, Fox, Shift, Pod, Bridgestone, Matrix, Ray Howard and everyone else who helps out with the Victorian Yamaha Junior Racing Team, his parents and family for all their amazing help.

The Australian Junior Motocross Championships, hosted by the Bunbury Motorcycle Club, takes place on the South Western Highway in Bunbury, Western Australia from September 26 to October 3.
