The small north-west Victorian township of Carwarp will this weekend host rounds 11 and 12 of the Yamaha Victorian Off-Road Championship. The North West Victorian Motorcycle Club will host the two day’s which will see both seniors and juniors compete. A Cross-Country loop of 22.5km will greet the riders on Saturday, whilst on Sunday two sprint loops of 9km will be set up. The thirteen-round Championship is finely balanced with only three rounds left, with defending Champion Blake Hore looking to all but wrap up his second straight Championship this weekend. Having just returned from Greece, where he was part of the Australian team at the International Six Days Enduro, Hore currently leads the outright standings by 34 points from Todd Stephenson. |

Three-time Victorian Off-Road Series Champion Jehi Willis is also within striking distance sitting just a further seven points behind Stephenson. With similar conditions expected to that of the annual Hattah Desert Enduro, of which Willis is a confessed “lover”, he is a big chance make up some ground this weekend. The fight for the Championship for the juniors could not be any closer, with the first three riders separated by just eight points. The Championship to date has largely been a three-horse race between young guns Travis Cooper (currently first), Alex Bolton (second) and Jesse Milner (third). Having won the previous two rounds in Ballarat last month, Bolton has closed the gap to Cooper to just two points and another win this weekend will see him re-take the Championship lead with just one rounds remaining. Every point will be crucial in each class which will ensure the racing this weekend will be as exciting and close as you’re likely to see anywhere. Entry for spectators is free and families are encouraged to turn out in numbers and make it a family day out. Racing on Saturday begins at 8:30am for juniors and 1:00pm for seniors, with both set to take off at 9:00am on Sunday. |
