The Australian Junior Trophy Team has finished second Outright at
the 2008 International Six Day Enduro in
It was a wonderful effort to hang onto the second spot that the team held since the beginning of the event, and team riders Jarrod Bewley, Blake Hore, Andrew Lloyd and Geoff Braico did a great job on the final day of the event. The sixth day consisted of each rider taking part in a seven-lap Motocross race, in what was the hottest day of the whole week – the mercury reaching 37 degrees. Bewley finished the event a wonderful 34th Outright, Hore came in 38th, Lloyd gradually moved up the rankings throughout the week to finish in 62nd, and after a disastrous opening day, Braico ended up in 80th. |

It was the best result by an Australian Junior Team since 1995, and was a wonderful effort – especially considering the withdrawal of top-rated rider Josh Strang in the lead-up to the 2008 event. The Junior Team received their trophy at the official presentation ceremony on Saturday night, and each received FIM commemorative plates for their efforts. |

Stefan Merriman had a disastrous final day after crashing at the first corner of the final Motocross Test. Merriman went into the race first Outright in the E3 class and fourth overall, but came undone when he slid into the protective padding at the first corner. The four-time world champion was first on the staggered grid which started on the tarred straight of the Serres Motorcycling Circuit, and as he came wide into the first corner of the moto, he lost control and slid straight into the padded barrier. By the time he managed to get his bike up safely he was in last place in the race, and despite working his way through the lagging riders in front of him, lost too much time to the leaders. As a result, Merriman ended the event finishing fourth in his class, and seventh overall. |
