It took a while to adjust to the heat, but Victorian Blake Hore is now well settled into Serres, Greece as the 83rd International Six Days Enduro (ISDE) gets set to kick off today.

The Australian team have enjoyed what has been a relatively relaxing few days since arriving and are now fully prepared to tackle the heat, dust and whatever else the Serres course may throw their way.

"It's a bit of a climate change coming from home being cool and then coming here.

"It's taken a bit to get use to, but it should be alright," Blake said last Friday.

Serres turned on a carnival like atmosphere on Saturday night for the official opening of the 2008 ISDE.

Australian Off-Road Series and A4DE Champion Chris Hollis was given the honour of carrying the Australian flag. The Australian team were the first team to march, which took the riders down the main straight of the Serres motorcycle circuit in front of a huge adoring crowd.

A massive fireworks display ended what was a fantastic night for the Australian team.

"That was alright, hey?!" said an excited Blake after the event.

"There's a great atmosphere and everyone seems to be getting behind it which is great to see."

Final preparations have taken place, test rides have been completed and all the Australian riders are aware of what lies ahead. The Australian riders have all taken the chance to walk the tracks and get a feel for the difficulty of the track.

"I've walked all the tracks once and I've walked four of the Enduro tests twice," Blake said before the weekend.

The team enjoyed a relaxing weekend as they prepared for todays start. Some riders took the opportunity to walk the tracks once again and there was also some time spent in the pool cooling off from the searing Serres heat.
