Applications for the 2009 Victorian Institute of Motocross (VIM) program close next Friday 19th September.

Riders wishing to take part in 2009 should put their application is as soon as possible to ensure they do not miss the deadline.

After a successful first year in 2008, the VIM will return with improvements for 2009. The improvements are aimed at offering an increased value for both new participants and students from the 2008 VIM.

The VIM is designed to assist Motocross riders in Victoria in taking their riding and training to the next level with the aim of being successful at both the state and national level.

Riders will be selected from the list of applications and will then attend a series of coaching and training sessions throughout a 12 month period. In 2009 there will be a total of 10-12 sessions. In 2008 there were four training sessions and six coaching sessions. This will change for 2009 with more emphasis placed on the training sessions with new and varied topics being offered.

Coaching sessions will be offered at various different tracks across Victoria by experienced and accredited coaches with a very low coach to rider ratio to guarantee maximum benefit. Coaching sessions will be very intense and structured to match the level of the riders. A parent/guardian will need to be in attendance to assist where required.

Training sessions will be made up of fitness tests and evaluations along with theoretical classes covering, but not limited to, training, goal setting, diet/nutrition, bike set up, public speaking, psychology and race day preparations. Classes will be conducted by accredited coaches, Victorian Institute of Sport presenters and other guests speakers.

Applications for the 2009 VIM are still open. Simply download the Application Form below and return to:
