Victoria will be the major beneficiary of the new 2009 Australian Superbike Championships (ASBK) playing host to five of the ten rounds.

The 2009 ASBK calendar was released late last week, with the ten round series set to commence and finish in Victoria. Round 1 will be at Winton Raceway on February 13-15 and the series will conclude with Round 10 at Calder Park on November 13-15.

The full calendar can be seen below.

The premier classes of Superbikes and Supersport will contest all rounds. The remaining classes will compete at selected rounds.

The 2009 Australian Superbike Series is confirmed to include the following classes:

Superbike

Supersport

Superstock 1000

Superstock

Yamaha FZ6 Masters

125GP / 250 4-stroke

Honda CBR150 Junior Racing

Additional classes such as Historics and Sidecars may be included to compete at selected rounds depending on entrant numbers.

Detailed class information including machine and rider eligibility and schedules is currently being finalised and will be available shortly.

Adam Bailey, Event Manager at Frontline Media Group, the new promoters of ASBK, said a lot of consideration went into the calendar to ensure maximum benefit and exposure for ASBK.

"In constructing this calendar, careful consideration has been given to avoid date clashes with other major events and maximise opportunities such as weather and public holidays.

"Faced with the broad and varied challenges and objectives of all involved from privateers to factory racers, race teams and manufacturers, we have done all we can to create a calendar that best meets the needs of the majority of entrants.

Frontline Media Group has also launched the new 2009 ASBK website (www.asbk.com.au) containing news, results, photo galleries and a full race calendar.
